Board Election

Nominations are now open for four (4) seats on the board of directors. Nominations must be submitted at least 10 days before the annual meeting. All candidates must be a member in good standing of the National JACL Credit Union, at least 18 years of age, bondable, free from any conflicts of interest and able to attend at least 75% of duly called board meetings. KEVIN MUKAI

  • Recently retired after working 29 years for Proctor & Gamble Company and Nestle USA, working mostly in Marketing, eCommerce, and Sales
  • Has lived in Japan, Ohio, and Virginia
  • Lifetime JACLCU Credit Union member
  • Raised in Utah
  • Lives in Salt Lake with wife Kristen, and father of 4 children

TERRY NAGATA

  • Employed at the National JACL Credit Union from 1982 to 2009
  • Has been serving on the National JACL Credit Union Board of Directors since 2010
  • Volunteered with Boy Scouts of America and IBM Mail Measurement for 20 years
  • Served on the Board of Trustees of the Utah Symphony/Utah Opera for 6 years
  • Lives in Sandy with wife Leah

KAREN OKAWA

  • Recently retired after 32 years as a Product Information Analyst, most recently for defense contractor L3Harris Technologies
  • Currently volunteers on various committees and boards, including Nikkei Senior Center, Mount Olympus JACL, and the Japanese Church of Christ
  • Has been serving on the National JACL Credit Union Supervisory Committee since 2013
  • Served on the National JACL Credit Union Board of Directors from 1998 to 2010
  • Lives in Salt Lake

KRIS YAMADA

  • Currently employed with the Utah State Board of Education as a CTE Computer Science & Information Technology Education Specialist and as an Adjunct Professor at Utah Valley University
  • Has been serving on the National JACL Credit Union Board of Directors since 2009
  • Board Member of Western Business Education Association, National Alternative Education Association
  • Wasatch Front North JACL board member
  • Lives in West Point with husband Steve and mother of 1

Supervisory Committee Report

In accordance with Section 10.3.1 of the By-Laws, the Supervisory Committee has conducted monthly

Examinations of the credit union’s affairs and found everything to be in order for the year ending December 31, 2020.  The Supervisory Committee has retained the services of Dickson & Co. Inc, CPA to conduct the annual examination of the credit union’s financial operations.  The committee was able to wear masks and perform their tasks with social distancing during these unprecedented times.
